Kia Ora !*FIRSTNAME*!,

It has been some time since our last international newsletter, however we have not been idle during this period. Rotorua has continued to set the bar in many respects of tourism and again has the honor of showcasing ourselves through hosting the annual Tourism Rendezvous New Zealand (TRENZ) conference. We take particular pride in our ability to look after our international guests who are attending this event.

Over the previous year's tourism award season, Rotorua operators won an unprecedented amount of national awards, including The Agrodome (ITOC 2007 Operator of the Year), Hells Gate and Wai Ora Spa (New Zealand Tourism Awards – Top Visitor Attraction and The Visa Award for Innovation) and of course NZone “The Ultimate Jump” taking out the Supreme Tourism Award at the same awards.  Destination Rotorua is very proud of the achievements of our local operators, who are a testament to the level of quality experiences on offer in Rotorua and to the dedication of Rotorua as a destination to provide more to both trade and consumer alike.

I hope that you enjoy this edition of our newsletter and should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to ask.

Yours truly,
Haydn Marriner

View from tree canopy

Believed to a New Zealand first, the Mamaku Rainforest Treetops Walk opened on December 22, 2007.

The latest in a long line of major redevelopment projects undertaken at PARADISE VALLEY SPRINGS in the past 30 years, the ‘aerial walk’ is an elevated solid walkway high up in the tree canopy. Passing through magnificent mature New Zealand rainforest, the walk showcases native specimens that are hundreds of years old and thought to pre-date European settlement.

Encapsulating spirit of Rotorua

Wairua means spirit in Maori so it’s fitting that the newly created WAI RUA ROTORUA full day package encompasses the spirit of Rotorua.

Put together by Hells Gate - Wai Ora Spa and Mokoia Island - Wai Ora Experience (who now operate under one banner), the combo package brings together many of the things that visitors love about Rotorua - Maori customs, geothermal activity, steaming waters, natural surroundings and a mystical island set on a beautiful lake.

Dream on wheels

For many people Harley Davidson motorcycles conjure up a special feeling; they of dream of owning or at least riding one before they die. Torrey and Kerri

Houghton are among the fortunate ones who own Harleys - and what’s more they are willing to share their passion – and bikes – with others.

Torrey has had a lifetime love affair with motorcycles, particularly Harley Davidsons, while Kerri’s interest was sparked the day her new boyfriend (now husband Torrey) arrived to pick her up on a Harley. The couple launched WILD AND FREE HARLEY TOURS in March 2008, and aim to share the sights, sounds and smells of Rotorua from the back of Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Quest opens in Rotorua
