Rotorua lakes prime for big trout

Summer trout fishing at the Rotorua lakes is in its prime at this time of year with still plenty of opportunities ahead say Fish & Game. The weather condition during January were sometimes prohibitive but warmer conditions ahead are likely to improve prospects for fishers.

Deep lakes such as Tarawera and Rotoiti always produce big trout over summer to jigging, a method increasing in popularity. Lake Rotorua on the other hand was popular with anglers wanting to fly fish, troll or spin and fishers should experience a good catch rate on the lake.
