Kia Ora !*FIRSTNAME*!,
There has been a significant amount of work done over the past few weeks and progress is being made on a number of fronts. We are now in a position to hit a number of goal dates. Specifically:
Industry Liaison Groups
All feedback from the survey has been collated and discussed at the last Committee meeting. The decision was taken to go with a slightly amended version of the second option contained in the initial paper which is a two tier approach splitting strategy and issues with operational activity. W e are currently formulating the final proposal with the aim of having the structural mechanics in place prior to Xmas
Tourism Committee Vacancies
The nomination process for the two vacant seats on the Tourism Committee closed on the 25th November with 17 nominations being received. As you will also be aware Fiona Sunnrebroek and Craig Simpson will be joining the appointment panel. A short-list process is underway and the appointments will be made in time for the new members to join the final meeting of the year on 20th December.
General Manager
By now you will be aware of the appointment of Oscar Nathan to the position of General Manager and the Tourism Committee looks forward to a successful 2012 and beyond with Mr Nathan at the helm.
"Oscar has enormous experience in tourism and was party to helping devise the strategic objectives agreed by the Tourism Committee which he will now be able to implement operationally ."
We would also like to acknowledge the important role the industry representatives on the appointment panel played in this process and their support for Oscar's appointment gives a good platform for building the industry cohesion required to get on with the job. Tania Bui has done an outstanding job for us over much of 2011 but I know she looks forward to handing over to Oscar. I hope that we will be able to retain her skills and experience on a project basis in 2012.
October Forum Feedback
We had some encouraging feedback from the industry forum held in October and a number of changes will be made around presentations and formats for future forums. In particular, you will hear far more extensively from the team members on DRM on their areas of responsibility.
I would like to thank those of you who have assisted the progress we are making with your feedback. We want and need your input to put in place the right structures and mechanisms I'm sure the revised structures will give us these opportunities for feedback and suggestions.
If you wish to know more about what the team at DRM and the I-Site are doing can I encourage you to visit the following link to get a view of their quarterly council update reports.
I look forward to working closer with you as we move to through Christmas and the New Year
Kind regards
Tony Marks
